A Word About Elevator World, Inc.This year marks the 56th year of ELEVATOR WORLD's publication. Founded in 1953 by William C. Sturgeon, EW was the first international elevator and escalator trade magazine, and now, with an array of new products, the company continues to grow with a 21st-century vision. Over the years, the company has grown and is now a three-generation family business, with Sturgeon's daughter Ricia S. Hendrick as publisher and Sturgeons grandson T. Bruce MacKinnon as vice president. Sturgeon retired in 1997, and Robert S. Caporale, a 40-year elevator-industry veteran, is now editor.
EW has dedicated itself to providing customers with in-depth international industry news and events, as well as promoting industry awareness through the magazine (print & digital), and its Internet site, online bookstore and e-mail newsletters. EW has made a continuing commitment to preserving elevator/escalator history through the online Elevator Museum, industry professionals can interact and provide valuable feedback through the online message board, and the publishing division releases new books, videos and software in an effort to promote industry education and safety. Contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, inspectors, architects, engineers, consultants, government officials and other industry professionals take advantage of EW's first-class service.
